What a great night of worship we experienced last Sunday evening at Faith Baptist Church. From the first note of music through the power of the spoken word we experienced the presence and power of the Holy Spirit. The Spring Worship Celebration has reminded me that what we long for is a powerful touch from God to strengthen us for the task of reaching our world for Christ. When God’s people come together for no other reason than to worship Him and to hear from Him something supernatural takes place. That was certainly true this past Sunday.
The message we heard from the Lord through Thomas Hammond was both inspiring and challenging. One thing he said left an impact on my mind and heart. As he spoke about how the paralytic in Mark 2 was “carried” to the feet of Jesus by his friends, he reminded us that we have this same responsibility. Most of the lost who live and work around us are not just going to show up at church on Sunday morning. We have to go out to them and bring them to the feet of Jesus.
He also challenged us as an association and as churches to be creative in how we accomplish this task. We cannot keep on doing the same things we have been doing and expect different results. It is my prayer that as a result of what we heard and experienced at our worship time last Sunday, we will begin to break out of old patterns and find new ways to share the gospel. The life changing Gospel never changes but how we make it known requires us to be fresh and creative in these challenging days.
